The first thing that you notice is a lack of a sound hole on Skytop Guitars. I have to say that I was very surprised by how good they sound. Similarly designed guitars with offset sound holes have failed miserably to my ears where they are overly boomy with a poor sound quality. However, Eric has somehow managed to achieve a well balanced sound while retaining the enveloping quality of sound ports making it an immersive experience for the player.

"This Grand Concert sized guitar pairs a Tunnel 13 Redwood soundboard
with a stunning set of Zircote back and sides. It is accentuated by high-curl Koa bindings and a line of b/w/b purfling, with a Koa 12th fret marker. The combination of Redwood/Ziricote gives a well-rounded,
warm tone ideal for fingerstyle. This guitar has a very lively response
with trebles that cut through the mix with aplomb. The bass and mids are crisp and crunchy with a clean projection sustained up and down the neck. Slick setup is easy on the hands, and this sans-soundhole beast keeps on singing when you drop her into altered tuning territory, especially Open D."
